Kimberly-Clark has patented a dissolvable sheet that contains detergents for laundry or personal care use. This technology provides enhanced benefits over existing liquid and dry detergent sheets by incorporating dual surfactants into a dissolvable fibrous matrix. The use of two surfactants allows for more customized detergent blends, which can be tailored for different types of laundry loads. The individual surfactants can be made to:
- disperse at different times, providing individual cleaning benefits during the cycle
- disperse at different rates, allowing for gradual or quicker entry into the wash load
- interact (e.g. part A+B) and enhance cleaning efficacy by boosting the power of the detergents, or,
- be chemically triggered to interact with bleach or other additives within the load or cycle
Other additives may be incorporated into the sheet to scavenge residual dyes or inks within the wash water, release fabric softeners or brighteners, or contain odor control agents including fragrances. The sheet may be manufactured using various means and may by embossed with a branding or instructions for use.
This technology could also be adapted for skin care use as a bathing wipe.
